About Our Speakers
Robert Alderson
US Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney @Berggren
Robert is one of a very small number of intellectual property attorneys working at a European IP firm who has a law degree from the United States and is qualified to practice before both the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office. He is also qualified to practice before the upcoming European Unified Patent Court. Robert´s responsibility at Berggren primarily involves activities associated with international client relations. In such capacity, he often writes and speaks on a variety of intellectual property-related topics, particularly concerning comparative IP law. In his professional capacity, Robert has experience in patent prosecution, litigation, licensing, opinion letter-writing, and IP due diligence matters. Prior to moving to Europe in 2011, he worked in New York, including over 10 years in the IP group of an AmLaw 100 law firm. Robert has a law degree (JD) and degree in veterinary medicine (DVM), both from the University of Georgia.
Michael Braun
European Patent Attorney, German Patent Attorney (Patentanwalt), European Trademark and Design Attorney @Berggren
Michael has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the European Patent Office and the German Patent and Trademark Office. Moreover, he has successfully represented his clients in numerous opposition and appeal proceedings. Based on his qualifications and in-depth experience, Michael frequently writes and speaks on a variety of intellectual property-related topics, particularly concerning German and European IP law. Before joining Berggren, Michael served both domestic as well foreign clients in one of Germany’s most renowned patent law firms and later founded his own IP law firm. He has over ten years of experience in the field of intellectual property and has worked for international corporations, small-sized companies as well as universities and research institutions.
Mariella Massaro
Certified Licensing Professional, J.D. @Berggren
Mariella is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) at Berggren Oy, a full service European Intellectual Property firm headquartered in Helsinki, Finland. She works on all aspects of license and collaborative agreements in key global markets. Mariella previously practiced for 15 years in Italy as an IP attorney-at-law assisting a variety of clients, including high-tech and software companies, iconic design and fashion houses, research institutions and start-ups. Mariella is also a member of Berggren’s International Client Relations team, ensuring that foreign clients receive excellent legal services, tailored to their needs and expectations.
